Statement of WFDY - Subject: Changes in the HQ

The World Federation of Democratic Youth would like to inform you that by the end of the General council Meeting that was held in Nepal between 23/05/2018 – 25/05/2018, both the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON) of Cyprus and the Union of Young Communists (UJC) of Cuba announced the replacement of the President of WFDY and the General Secretary respectively. Comrade Nikolas Papadimitriou is replaced by comrade Iacovos Tofari at the position of the president of WFDY, and also comrade Jose Angel Maury De Toro is replaced by comrade Yusdaquy Larduet Lopez at the position of the General Secretary.
The World Federation of Democratic youth would like to express its gratitude to the contribution of both comrade Nikolas Papadimitriou and Jose Angel Maury de Toro where they served WFDY at the HQ in critical moments and by always trying to maintain the unity of the youth around the anti-imperialist struggle. Further it express its wishes for their future actions to stand with success especially considering their participation on their national struggle against imperialism and in favour of the rights of the youth.
Finally, the World Federation of Democratic Youth would like to welcome comrades Iacovos Tofari and Yusdaquy Larduet Lopez and wish them fruitful work, success and power in order to continue carrying the anti-imperialist slogan and all the principles of WFDY.

Curriculum Vitae of Iacovos Tofari
Iacovos Tofari was born in 1991 at Nicosia, he is 26 years old, his has origins from the occupied village Assia and now lives at the village Lympia of Nicosia District.
He is member of AKEL since 2011 and he was elected at the Central Council of EDON in 2018. He studied Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His involvement in the Popular Movement of Cyprus started in young age when he became a militant of the Pancyprian United Organization of Students. He has been President and Organizational Secretary of the Cypriot Student’s Progressive Movement (Proodeftiki) in Athens and also member of the executive council of the National Students Union of Cypriots in Athens. Between 2009 - 2011 he has been member of EDON’s District Council of Nicosia and between 2013 – 2015 member of the Students Council of EDON.

Curiculum Vitae of Yusdaquy Larduet López
Yusdaquy Larduet López, was born in 1981 in the municipality of Manatí, province of Las Tunas, he is 37 years old and lives in Havana, Cuba.
He studied Agronomy Engineering at the “Vladimir Ilich Lenin University" of Las Tunas.He has been a member of the UJC since 1996. From 1994 to 1998 he was a leader of the FEEM in the municipality Manatí (Federation of Students of the Secondary School). From 1998 to 2010 he was elected in Manatí as a member of the Municipal Committee of the UJC. During this period he held different responsibilities including Secretary of the UJC in the Free Algeria Agroindustrial Complex. In 2007 he was elected as a Member of the Municipal Executive Bureau and later First Secretary of the UJC in the municipality of Manatí, he was a member of the Provincial Committee of the UJC in the province of Las Tunas. Since 2012 he is an official of the Department of International Relations of the National Committee of the UJC for Latin America. Africa and the Middle East. In 2014 he was elected as Vice President of COPPPAL Juvenil (Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean) on behalf of the UJC and ratified in 2016.He is a militant of the Communist Party of Cuba

A unique journey is completed after almost 4 years. It's been interesting and influencial to work with the world youth within the anti-imperialist struggle. Thanks to EDON I met the beauty of the WFDY, and thanks to WFDY I met the whole world. What is essential is the experience and the lessons from conducting and communicating with different people, cultures and civilizations. Especially in the youth sector, no matter the difference of the youth in relation to their race, religion or ethnicity, they share the same concerns in regards to their contemporary needs, they share the same struggles against the human exploitation, but mainly they share the same demand for the termination of wars and in favour of peace, friendship and social justice.
Afterall, I feel gratefull for meeting with so many comrades and for establishing a strong friendship with different people from the globe. I wish that WFDY will continue strengthening and keeping the flame of the principles and ideas of 1945 alive.
