Mexico-1968

   The events begun with a strike in the UNAM (Mexican National Autonom University), on July, 22 1968.

   The government,leaded by Gustavo Diaz Ordaz send the riot police (the "granaderos"), to seize the university. From July, 22 until July, 24 were fierce battles on the streets around the university and several students were already killed. Then, the movement was increasing untill a general strike in all mexican universities and high schools. On August 27, over a million people took the streets in Mexico DF in support to students, on September, 17, was another hugue march (this time in silence), to denounce the repression. Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, after this hugue rallies decided to send the Army against demonstrators. On October, 2, a students' meeting at Tlateloco Square was blockaded by two divissions of soldiers.

   Secret police infiltrated among students (the "Batallón Olimpia"), started the provocation shooting against the soldiers. After it, the Army dispersed the crowd with bullets, NOBODY left the square without be arrested, wounded or killed!!.
