Gubkin, Igor Vladimirovich

   Igor Vladimirovich Gubkin (Born on January, 25, 1964, Blagoveshchensk, the Amur region, RSFSR, in the USSR), Russian publicist and politician. Confined in prison for charge of murder. A Communist a member of the CPSU.

 

   Biography

   Igor was born in a military family. Russian by nationality. In 1981 he has finished a secondary school in Vladivostok, until he was enlisted to the Soviet Army he worked as an electric worker in the town of Prokhladny in the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomy Republic.

   From 1986 to 1991 he worked in the Komsomol, during that time he became a founding member of an organization called "Revvoensovet" (the Revolutionary Military Council). In August 1991 in Moscow he participated in the preparations for an armed counteraction to the President of RSFSR B.N.Yeltsin. In December, 1992 he was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison.

   In May, 1996 he was elected the chairman of the All-Russian social organization "Youth housing complex" of the Russian Federation. In the same year he headed the youth staff in Moscow at G.A.Zyuganov's presidential campaign . From 1996 to 1997 he was the editor of the newspaper "Young Communist".

   From March, 1997 till January, 2000 Gubkin was a member of the RCWP [Russian Communist Workers Party]. In August, 1997 he was arrested on the charge of terrorism. Until January, 2000 he was detained in "Lefortovo" prison. After release from prison in January, 2000 until July, 2001 he worked in the Committee for Defense of political prisoners and edited the newspaper "The Council of Workers’ Deputies".

   Since July, 2003 Gubkin is a member of CPSU. He is one of the main ideologists of the party. In July, 2001 he was arrested on the charge of murder. In November, 2002 the Leninsky district court of Vladivostok sentenced Gubkin to 14 years in a high-security penal colony. Now he is held in custody in Volchanets of the Primorski region.

   In 2010 by the permission of the colony administration he made a short film about life there called “Choice”.
