An increasing number of German elderly people are forced to move from Germany to Eastern Europe,

because they can not afford the costs of staying in a nursing home in their native country.

Already more than 10,000 elderly Germans emigrated for this reason, and these numbers are growing. Over the last few years, there was a 50% increase in the number of Germans who were forced to live out their days in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A place in a German nursing home costs on average 3,400 euros per month. Subsidies allocated by the state to pay for it, are scanty, and if the old people have no savings, no children or their children can not or do not want to pay for them, they have no other option than to emigrate.
