The Soviet Friendship Society Conference
On December 13, 2009, the Third Conference of the Soviet Friendship
Society was held in Moscow.
Viktor Bourenkov reported on the work of the society within the last
two years. Since its foundation in Moscow, several new branches of the
society have been formed in the territory of the Soviet Union. The
most active branches now are in Moscow, Saransk (Russia) and Donetsk
(Ukraine). The society has managed to unite in work the
representatives of several parties and movements dedicated to
socialism, re-establishment of the USSR and anti-imperialist
solidarity. Jointly with the Venceremos movement the Society has
actively supported the Miami Five. We keep the Russian-language web
site running. Central to the Society’s work is the publication of
Russian NSC.
Viktor has also outlined the problems faced by the society. The lack
of human resources and the business of activists who are already
involved in social activity makes resulted in the delays in Russian
NSC coming out, as well as in the gaps in the Society’s work.
Vladimir Chechentsev presented the co-report, outlining the
difficulties the Friendship Society had to overcome. A very important
aspect is the effort to support the motion to re-establish the
Communist International. Vladimir has also presented the information
from the regional branches.
The Conference elected the new Central Coordination Council and the
Central Control Commission. A group of comrades was requested to
produce the new issues of Russian-language NSC, the permanent
Editorial Board may be settled later by the Central Coordination
Council.
The organisation meeting of the Central Coordinating Council elected
Viktor Bourenkov as the new chairperson, and Vladimir Chechentsev as
the deputy chairperson.
Comrades in the Central Coordination Council are dedicated to continue
the work to fulfil the aims of the Soviet Friendship Society, in
conditions of growing anti-imperialist struggles world-wide.
